In person lessons
We come to schools, libraries, and community centers around Orlando with the parts, tools, and boards already in hand. Students build something real in a single session. No lab required on your end.
NextGen Engineering runs free, hands on engineering lessons for 6th through 12th grade students across the Orlando area, and publishes every lesson we write online, so anyone can use them.

Every lesson we teach gets written up and posted here, with materials lists and step by step instructions. Teachers, parents, and students can run them independently, anywhere.
Every lesson is tagged by grade band and difficulty, so a sixth grader and a high school senior each get something that actually fits them.
Most students meet engineering for the first time in a college intro course, long after they have already decided what they are and are not good at. By then, the question is no longer “is this interesting?” but “am I already behind?”
NextGen Engineering exists to move that first encounter about eight years earlier, and to make it a good one. Not a lecture about engineering, but an afternoon spent actually doing it.
NextGen Engineering was founded by high school students who had spent years in robotics, CAD, and embedded electronics, and kept running into the same thing: younger students were curious and capable, but had nowhere to start.
So we started teaching. What began as a handful of sessions became a curriculum, and the curriculum became this library. We are still students ourselves, which turns out to be the point: we remember exactly which parts were confusing.
A lot of STEM outreach is a slideshow and a demo. Ours is not. Students leave having modeled a part, wired a circuit, or made a motor turn under their own instructions.

I am a junior at Orlando Science High School, who enjoys the math side of physics. Other than that, he also enjoys soccer and video games.
I am a junior at Orlando Science High School that is interested in engineering. I enjoy playing sports and hanging out with friends.
I am a junior at Orlando Science High School who loves mechanical engineering, hockey, videography, freestyle soccer, and eating.
Every lesson is free, self contained, and written to be run without us in the room.
